Quebec City's Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB) offers direct flights to and from major north-american airports, as well as the Paris Charles-De-Gaulle airport (CDG) in France. An overview of flights handled by Quebec City's airport is available here. Notice that the dates of the conference have been selected such that it takes place just before the ASME IDETC (held in Cleveland) for the convenience of international participants.
Various means of transportation can reach the Université Laval campus or nearby hotels from the Quebec City airport:
It is possible to reach Quebec City from Montreal either by train or by bus. The train service is provided by Via Rail Canada, and the bus service, by Orléans Express. Both means of transportation can take visitors from the Montreal-Trudeau Airport (YUL), although when leaving by train, it is necessary to first take a free shuttle from the airport to the Dorval train station. Both the train and the bus make stops downtown Montreal for those who are not coming from the airport.
The trip lasts approximately 3:30 hours by train, and 3:50 hours by bus. Both services provide free Wifi access, and while the train is more comfortable, the bus offers more frequent departures (every hour during the day) and is slightly less expensive. The train tickets must be purchased in advance, and are not transferable to earlier or later departures. In contrast, the bus tickets can be purchased at the last minute. When the bus is full, Orléans Express adds a new departure a few minutes later.
Both means of transportation can drop visitors either at Sainte-Foy or at the Gare-du-Palais, which is downtown Quebec City. The stop at Sainte-Foy (the first of the two stops at Quebec City) is closest to the venue, which is at the Université Laval. Various means of transportation can reach the Université Laval campus or nearby hotels from the Sainte-Foy train station or the Sainte-Foy bus station:
Note: The bus connecting Quebec City and Montreal sometimes makes a stop on the Université Laval campus on Fridays and Sundays. Some participants may find it convenient when departing from the conference, but unfortunately, this option will probably not be available on their arrival in Quebec City.
